Chester Park - Cincinnati, Ohio

Chester Park was one of several amusement parks that served the Greater Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area along with Coney Island and Lagoon Lake in Ludlow, Kentucky. The park was located at Spring Grove Avenue and Platt Avenue in Cincinnati's Winton Place area and was developed by George Stone in 1875. The amusement park closed in 1932 but a few attractions kept operating until 1941. Today, the site is the home of the Cincinnati Water Works. Ironically, the park was forced to close due to an unpaid water bill.

Chester Park provided strong competition to Coney Island in the late 19th century and early 20th century. The park sat along a major streetcar line and enabled thousands of residents to enjoy the swimming pool, skating rink, boating, dancing, horse racing and of course, the amusement park rides.
